I am passing along a website which US Senator Barbara Boxer emailed to her constituents as a resource for identifying how/where to recycle electronics.
Earth 911 Website
It has a useful search engine on the site for finding out information on specific items you need to recycle, because they no longer function--or on finding them a new home if they do.

Words versus Intentions--an Olympic Lesson in Prayer
Hello again. Like many around the world, I spent a couple of weeks glued to NBC's television coverage of the Olympics in Beijing. Hence, I took a couple weeks off of writing in my blog.
One of the thing that struck me was that when Michael Phelps was interviewed, he said things about knowing that he, or the US team, could break the world record. On the other hand, when the Jamaican Usain Bolt was spoken to after winning the 200M race with a new world record, and after his win in the 100M race, he was asked whether he had believed that the prior world record could be broken and he said no.
A lot of people would think that it didn't make sense that these two champions could both break world records and earn gold medals, if one had a belief that he could break the world record and the other not. However, it's not as simple as it seems on the surface.
The angels say:
The announcer who interviewed Usain Bolt after his 200 meter victory didn't ask the right question. Did he think the world record was able to be shattered? Perhaps not. But when he was running the race, he was not focused on trying to break a world record he didn't think he could break. He was focused on running fast--and he knew he was fast, having won the 100 meter race. He was focused on winning the race, on winning gold, not on the time. Note that he didn't say that he couldn't believe that he had broken the record, but that he hadn't believed anyone could break it previously. It was not a personal limitation, but a general one in his mind, and his mind was focused on the intent to win, not to break time records, at the time of the race.
So there is really no true inconsistency between Michael Phelps's belief that world records were capable of being broken, and Usain Bolt's belief that they could be. Both were focused on winning. Both had the confidence of a belief in their capabilities, based on past success and on knowing that the Olympics frequently bring out the best in competitive adrenaline amongst the athletes.
It is so with your prayers. People struggle for the "right words" in prayer when it is the heart's yearning for divine grace that is communicated most strongly with no words, only sighs or tears....gratitude that is conveyed most strongly in joyful laughter and exuberance and song....Prayer isn't about the words. Prayer is about the attitude of the heart.
Don't worry about the words, or about the "rules". So many new agers superstitiously avoid any negatives in their affirmations or in saying anything "negative" because they attribute so much power to their words. So many traditional Christians think that saying "in Jesus' name" at the end of a prayer somehow gives more power to the prayer.... Whereas the real power of prayer is in the sincerity of the prayer, the prayer of intention and of heart. Feeling closeness to Jesus and that He is walking one's prayer heavenward has power, whereas a mechanical "in Jesus' name" does not. Feeling loveable and deserving of love will go much further in getting one a lasting love relationship than all he affirmative prayers in the world that say "I now have a loving, special relationship. Thank you, God."

Beginnings and Endings
We normally don't know how long or short our lives will be, on a conscious level, although I believe our souls know. Why do some babies die when they take their first breath? On the other hand, one of my friends at work, Leslie, has a grandfather who is 108. If you'd like to read a Wikipedia entry on this remarkable man, please go to John Babcock entry .
One of my friends and coworkers just lost a close friend this morning who had metastatic breast cancer. Last Wednesday, this woman was admitted to the hospital following a visit to her oncologist--today, she passed into nonphysical existence.
The fact that she passed away was not a shock--but the timing was, as she had still seemed fairly well, energetic and optimistic beforehand. I wanted to post this to honor my friend and coworker, to honor this woman who passed, and to honor all those who mourn family, friends and beloved animals whom they believe have left this plane too soon.... Please keep those who grieve in your prayers, as there are always those who do. You can ask the Creator to surround those you love with angels, or call upon angels yourself on their behalf. If they are open to being comforted, the angels will do so.

Appreciation
I was in Pennsylvania last week on business. While I was there, I was appreciating the beauty of the greenery, the fascinating sounds of cicadas and tree frogs and birds in the trees--the difference between urban Southern California and the majestic trees outside of Philadelphia.
I was also missing my kitties and thinking of them fondly and appreciating all of the small things they do to bring me joy, from rolling around on towels wanting belly rubs to reaching up to be picked up.... Appreciation can be for what is--and for what isn't. Just as there are competing love adages "out of sight, out of mind" and "absence makes the heart grow fonder", it is possible to appreciate what exists in the moment--or to turn what is, into an appreciation of what isn't that you normally don't sufficiently appreciate.
I ended up doing a little of both on my trip--as well as appreciating our relative lack of allergenic material in the air when I returned. I don't consider myself one of those people who are perpetually sneezing and sniffling with "bad allergies." But I sure got congested in Philadelphia with all those beautiful trees and plants around, and appreciated the drier clime of Southern California.
I asked the angels for some words on appreciation:
The secret of appreciation is to intend to. It does not matter whether you are appreciating something currently happening or remembering something in the past which you appreciate. The key to appreciation is to make an effort to soften your focus from goal-oriented activity and open your heart. This is relaxing and de-stressing on a physical level--and it makes you more like those of us in the nonphysical realms like angels, fairies. We never lose our sense of wonder. Sometimes modern life creates so much mental distraction that you must deliberately bring yourself back to openheartedness through a practice like meditation or appreciation.
