Owl Medicine

Tonight I felt guided to draw a card from the Messages From Your Animal Spirit Guides Oracle Cards. I drew the Pueo (Hawaiian Owl) card, which I had incidentally drawn for someone else tonight. Pueo seems to want to speak to many, not just one, tonight.

The card says “Your ancestral spirit guides are offering you guidance now, so pay close attention to signs and omens from them.”

I asked the angels for some guidance about “the ancestors.”

All of you have ancestors whom you can call upon for guidance. We are not speaking of Uncle Fred or Grandma who died fairly recently. We are speaking of ancient wisdom to be found in the peoples who inhabited the land you live on now, as well as many generations back in your own familial line. These are the people whose bones lie under your dwelling. These are the people whose DNA has come down in your own cells.

There are patterns and cycles of life. The ancestral spirits of both the land, and of your lineage, have wisdom to impart. For example, often you will find people of varying ethnicity having a Native American spiritual guide who reside in North America. These guides wish to help people who live on the land they historically inhabited. Other people have guides who are from their own genetic lineage. Sue has ancestors from Japan who lived on the Hawaiian island of Maui who took on indigenous ways. These ancestors are part of her guide family. So it is when any of you call upon ancestors—you may have guides of one or both types of ancestor and both are equally good.

One good way to connect with your ancestors is to sing. Not necessarily sing a recognizable tune, or in front of others… but go somewhere in private and ask to be taught the song of your ancestors. Your ancestors will come forward and give you a song. This will likely be a simple tune, and may or may not have words. What it will be is a point of focus, for you to even think in your mind to call upon the ancestors for guidance. And you will get ideas and images when you ask, that you will find of value.

We angels are not jealous. We love for you to get guidance from all sources of value, whether they be the divinities or deities of your faith, your ancestors, other spiritual guides, God Himself, or us. We wish you to seek the spiritual in all that is and remember to ask for help—whom you ask can be more inclusive than “just angels.”

You may also call upon the spirit of Pueo-Owl in order to better connect with your ancestral spirits and their guidance.
