Wings of Angels

I was moved by this story on Beliefnet called "A Lady With Wings" about a woman recalling being lost in the woods as a toddler and being protected by a lady with wings. I thought it was interesting that a child too young to really have preconceptions about angels or what they look like, would have what was an angel encounter in this way. I asked the angels about their appearance.

We normally appear to most of you, particularly those of you who have grown up in a culture that represents angels as beings with wings, as people with wings because you identify this with "angel." But we do not always appear with wings. Sometimes we appear as a large field of light in your vision. Sometimes we appear as dancing little lights in your peripheral vision. Sometimes we even just look like "regular folk."

The reason a child might think we look like a person with wings, even if they have no preconception regarding angels, is that we are nonphysical beings and we do have to contract our energy around ourselves in order to be perceptible to humans. Often this means a lot of light around what would be a head and shoulders--like you see halos of light around saints and angels in renaissance paintings. This light can look like wings.

When we spread or fold our wings, or what looks like wings, it is mainly to enfold you in energy. It has nothing to do with flight. Flight, or more accurately, transporting ourselves through thought or intention, does not require flapping wings or aerodynamicism like a bird.

The main thing we would like to impress upon you is that not everyone will see what looks like an angel, no matter how much faith you have and how much you love angels. Sight is not the most common strength of the nonphysical senses, not because it is difficult or advanced, but because so many people hold deep fear and tension around seeing something frightening such as ghosts--or they get frightened by "negative" precognitive dreams or visions and avoid seeing any nonphysical phenomena.

However, most of you will FEEL angels. You may feel a sense of being loved and comforted. You may feel a sense of relief when feeling sad right after offering prayer. You may feel a sense of awe or of the sacred, particularly in churches and in nature. Please know that the most common "symptom" people notice in the presence of angels is a positive difference in their emotions, or a feeling of air pressure shifts or "goose bumps."

Please know that you are loved, and that we ARE here when you call upon us, even if you don't see us. And if you feel anything unpleasant such as an unexplained DOWNTURN in energy, emotion, or feel threatened in any way, please call upon the angels, particularly Archangel Michael, for assistance, protection and clearing. It is likely that you have simply tapped into others' emotions or the footprint of some past energies where you are, not anything "supernatural" that is unsavory, but it is good to call for clearing and protection anyway.
